Corporate environments are typically conservative and that goes for their dress codes as well, which means muted colours, no strong patterns, and a clean, simple look. There’s no need to go dust off mums old 80s power suit but we thought we’d give you a few tips to get the look right so you grab that job.

A well-fitted suit is the most important aspect of dressing for an interview because it shows you mean business. Invest in quality suits that you’ll wear again and again. Whether you want to mix and match a blazer and pants to make the perfect suit or you’re on the hunt for a new one, look for a structured jacket that’s not too boxy and pants that have a tailored fit. If a pant-suit isn’t your thing, a skirt suit is more traditional and just as appropriate if paired with sheer stockings. But to keep from looking frumpy, stick with a slim cut, like a pencil skirt.
