7 Tips On How To Start A Successful Blog

OK I get sooo many letters from you gurls asking me, how can I start my own blog??? I think a lot of people may get the impression its fun & easy, but leeeeet me tell you, its super hard work to make it look like and function like the MO-AM Network, but it is also a lot of fun. If your serious about starting your own blog with your own area of interest and are will to put the work and time needed in, then check these top tips below and all the best to you gurl ;]

1. Decide What You Want To Blog About Duh!;p
There are a lot of bloggers on the web already. If you want to attract readers, you are going to need to establish your credibility. Don’t just blog about anything. Pick a topic you are are passionate about. Something that you have lots of experience with or you will loose interest very quickly, if you cant be excited about your blog why should we??

2. Decide: To Host or Not To Host
When it comes to starting a blog, your biggest decision will be whether you want to host the blog yourself, or use a free blogging service that is hosted for you. I started off with a free blog to get started and find what I enjoyed writing. Free is great to experiment and road test first, then upgrade to a paid service if your serious. Blogger or WordPress are the most popular platforms to start with.

3. How often should I update?
Some blogs update multiple times per day, or even multiple times per hour. Don’t feel pressured to keep up with that pace! However, if you’re trying to gain a loyal following of readers – even if that just means a devoted crowd of your best friend and family – neglecting your blog means your readers will lose interest fast. Stay relevant and connected to your readers by updating on a regular basis, I’d recommend writing at least twice or three times a week.

4. Find your voice & mind your grammar
People want to get your personality and this should be reflected in your writing. Find your voice so people understand who your are. Check your spelling. There’s a thing cal led spell check and its your friend! I did a lot of grammar mistakes when starting, but doing this everyday or however you update take time to revise what you wrote, you’ll be surprised how many mistakes you can make ;p

5. Content is key
Write down any ideas for topics you may have, sit down 1 hour at least a week and brainstorm on what to blog about for the next week. Do not worry if you eventually change the topics but having a list of idea topics will help you to stay focused. How to and list topics work the best. Dont just do the same thing, give your readers variety.

6. Promote!
OK you have your awesome blog, it looks fab….know one is coming! Of course there not, you have to promote…doh. How can the people come if they don’t know you exist, get tweeting, facebooking, telling everyone you meet etc that they need to come check your amazing website.

7. Get serious.
If you find writing a blog is something you want to become more serious about and want to compete with the big boys, then you will have to learn a lot more than just writing. There is also seo, link building, web traffic, optimizing your content etc to think about. Search the web for plenty of great advice , tips and reach out to others doing what you want to do, sometimes they do get back to you. Invest your time and money to appear above the radar.

Well this is how I started, hope it helps any ladies who have wrote to me and all the best with your blog, its hard work but fully rewarding once you find your way.
